On Saturday, Adani Foundation and NRLM hosted a programme at Vikas Bhawan, Mirzapur, from 10:45 AM to 1 PM, to celebrate International Women’s Day.

The event highlighted the achievements of women in sports, entrepreneurship, and community development, emphasising their role in inspiring change in rural areas.

During the programme, 20 women sportspersons and 40 rural women entrepreneurs from across the district were felicitated for their outstanding contributions. Their dedication, leadership, and perseverance have motivated others in their communities, promoting empowerment and socio-economic progress.

Officials from the district administration, NRLM representatives, members of Self Help Groups (SHGs), and more than 40 family members attended the ceremony to honour the awardees.

The event showcased the importance of recognising and supporting women-led initiatives, encouraging broader participation in sports, entrepreneurship, and community projects.

The celebration highlighted Adani Foundation’s ongoing commitment to supporting rural women’s economic independence.

By facilitating training, recognition, and access to resources, the initiative fosters confidence and entrepreneurship, enabling women to play active roles in their communities.

Established in 1996, the Adani Foundation has contributed significantly to social development across India, impacting over 9.1 million people in 6,769 villages across 19 states. Its initiatives focus on education, health and nutrition, sustainable livelihoods, climate action, and community development, aligning with global Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).

By honouring women leaders in Mirzapur, the Foundation and NRLM reinforced the message of inclusivity, empowerment, and sustainable growth, inspiring future generations to contribute actively towards stronger, more resilient communities.

The programme concluded with a felicitation ceremony and messages encouraging women to continue breaking barriers and shaping a more equitable society.
