The Adani Foundation and the Integrated Child Development Services (ICDS) department organised 14,039 activities in Uttar Pradesh’s Sonbhadra during the ninth National Nutrition Month to raise awareness about balanced diets, improve maternal and child health, and combat malnutrition.
The campaign recorded 1,35,874 participations across the district.
The initiative brought together Anganwadi centres and local communities to educate pregnant women, lactating mothers, adolescent girls, children and families about healthy eating habits and proper childcare.
The campaign included 6,959 family counselling sessions, 3,382 group discussions, 1,288 cooking demonstrations and 900 nutrition gardens.
Organisers held 358 Suposhan help desks, 354 awareness rallies, 335 nutrition fairs and 97 cleanliness drives to promote healthy diets, hygiene and malnutrition prevention.
The campaign prioritised early identification of nutritional deficiencies among children.
The report recorded the screening of 52,414 children aged between zero and five years to assess their growth and nutritional status and help connect them with appropriate counselling and health services.
The campaign stressed exclusive breastfeeding for six months, introducing complementary foods thereafter and continuing breastfeeding alongside a balanced diet. It further encouraged families to use local nutritious foods and maintain kitchen gardens.
Child Development Project Officers reviewed the activities.
District Programme Officer Vineet Singh praised the Suposhan Project team and Anganwadi workers, highlighting their role in improving nutrition awareness, maternal and child health, and malnutrition prevention.
The initiative emphasised sustained awareness, healthy eating and community participation to bring lasting improvements in nutrition across Sonbhadra.
