Adani Energy Solutions to Construct 7 GW Renewable Energy Transmission Network in India

Adani Energy Solutions Limited (AESL), a prominent player in India’s energy sector and a subsidiary of the globally diversified Adani portfolio, has secured a Letter of Intent (LOI) for the acquisition of Halvad Transmission Limited from PFC Consulting Limited (PFCCL). The Special Purpose Vehicle (SPV), Halvad Transmission Limited, established by PFCCL, is geared towards generating an impressive 7 GW of renewable energy (RE) from the Khavra Renewable Energy Park. AESL successfully clinched this through the Tariff-Based Competitive Bidding (TBCB) process and is set to commission the project on a Build, Own, Operate, and Maintain (BOOM) basis within 24 months.

Marked as the world’s largest renewable energy park with a staggering 30,000 MW green energy production capacity, the Khavra Renewable Energy Park is under construction in Khavra, Gujarat. The Halvad Transmission Line, an integral part of the National Grid, will facilitate the tapping of 7 GW of renewable energy by connecting Khavda to Halvad in Gujarat.

To realize this ambitious venture, AESL is committed to investing approximately Rs 3,000 crore for the construction, ownership, operation, and maintenance of the transmission project, covering a span of 301 km (656 skm) over a 35-year period. The project entails the establishment of a 765 kV Halvad switching station with 2×330 MVAR bus reactors and a line-in line-out of Lakadia-Ahmedabad 765 kV D/C line at Halvad.

Anil Sardana, Managing Director of Adani Energy Solutions Limited, expressed the company’s dedication to collaborating with the government and renewable energy developers to efficiently harness renewable energy. Sardana emphasized that the 7 GW project will contribute significantly to providing additional renewable energy to consumers while minimizing environmental impact through the utilization of cutting-edge technology.

This project not only enhances AESL’s market position but also expands its network, which includes both installed and under-commissioning assets, to an impressive 20,518 CKM and 53,161 MVA transformation capacity.

Adani Energy Solutions Limited (AESL), a key entity within the Adani portfolio, operates across various facets of the energy sector, encompassing power transmission, distribution, smart metering, and cooling solutions. As the largest private transmission company in the country, AESL serves 16 states in India, boasting a cumulative transmission network of 20,518 CKM and 53,161 MVA transformation capacity.
