Adani Defence & Aerospace, a key arm of the Adani Group, has been awarded the Society of Indian Defence Manufacturers (SIDM) Champion Award 2025, recognising its excellence in design, manufacturing, and testing within India’s growing defence sector.
Defence Minister Rajnath Singh, along with Defence Secretary Rajesh Kumar Singh, presented the honour in recognition of the company’s state-of-the-art Ammunition Complex in Kanpur, Uttar Pradesh.
The award celebrates Adani Defence & Aerospace’s technological innovation and advanced manufacturing standards, underscoring its role in strengthening India’s self-reliant defence ecosystem in line with the government’s ‘Made in India, Made for the World’ initiative.
Ashish Rajvanshi, CEO of Adani Defence & Aerospace, said the recognition reflected the company’s mission to create a robust, technology-driven defence manufacturing base.
“The SIDM Champion Award is a testament to our efforts to create an indigenous, technology-driven defence manufacturing ecosystem that enhances the nation’s self-reliance and strengthens its strategic readiness,” he further noted.
Additionally, he added that the Kanpur facility showcased how innovation powered by Industry 4.0 principles could transform India’s defence production landscape and establish the nation as a global hub for advanced manufacturing.
Spanning 500 acres, the Kanpur Ammunition Complex is one of India’s most integrated and technologically advanced production centres.
Equipped with automation and AI-based precision systems, the facility, however, manufactures small, medium, and large-calibre ammunition, maintaining the highest levels of safety, quality, and consistency.
The complex plays a crucial role in advancing the government’s Aatmanirbhar Bharat vision, contributing to national security through cutting-edge infrastructure and sustained manufacturing excellence.
In August, the company announced plans to almost double bullet production within months as part of its expansion drive.
Speaking to reporters via video conference, Rajvanshi outlined Adani Group’s continued commitment to building capabilities that prepare India for future defence challenges.
He confirmed that the company plans to invest Rs 7,000 crore over the coming years, including around $1 million towards missile production at the Kanpur plant.
He further revealed that the facility will soon begin producing larger-calibre ammunition, along with advanced defence equipment such as bulletproof jackets, drones, fighter aircraft, helicopters, and missiles, all aimed at bolstering India’s Make in India mission.
