Adani Becomes Official Partner For UNESCO’s World Engineering Day 2026

The Adani Group has become an official partner for UNESCO’s World Engineering Day for Sustainable Development (WED) 2026, marking the first time an Indian organisation has earned WFEO recognition for engineering and sustainability.

The partnership, moreover, highlights Adani’s commitment to advancing the global clean energy transition.

Sagar Adani, Executive Director of Adani Green Energy, said the Khavda renewable energy plant demonstrates how large-scale projects can remain sustainable, affordable, and inclusive.

“Our work shows India’s model for combining progress and sustainability,” he added.

Under the WED 2026 theme, Smart engineering for a sustainable future through innovation and digitalisation, Adani’s projects in renewable energy, digital infrastructure, and large-scale transport showcase how technology-driven engineering drives practical, sustainable development.

The Khavda plant in Kutch, Gujarat, is also the world’s largest renewable energy facility, planned to reach 30 GW capacity by 2029.

Spanning 538 sq km—five times the size of Paris—the project has already operationalised over 7 GW. It features India’s largest 5.2 MW onshore wind turbines, bifacial solar PV modules, horizontal single-axis trackers, and AI-driven monitoring via the Energy Network Operation Centre (ENOC).

Furthermore, Adani uses waterless robots to clean solar modules, conserving scarce water, and drives community development in education, health, women’s empowerment, water conservation, and infrastructure.

Headquartered in Ahmedabad, the Adani Group spans energy, utilities, transport, logistics, metals, and consumer sectors, guided by ‘Nation Building’ and ‘Growth with Goodness’ with a focus on sustainability and community impact.

By partnering with UNESCO for WED 2026, Adani reinforces its leadership in engineering and renewable energy, setting a global benchmark for sustainable development and supporting India’s energy security and climate goals.
