Actor-turned-entrepreneur Abhishek Bachchan has shared his excitement about India’s rapidly growing startup ecosystem and the role of the ‘Make in India’ initiative in shaping his entrepreneurial journey.
In an interview with CNBC-TV18, Bachchan discussed his investment approach and how the country’s rising business landscape has fueled his enthusiasm.
“What’s really exciting me and has been for the last five, six years is the India story – companies coming out of India, doing stuff for India,” Bachchan stated. “Make in India is something that really excites me because I think gone are the days where we look upon ourselves as being inferior. If not anything, we are the market leaders in whatever we do.”
Bachchan, who has invested in brands like Vadham Tea and Naagin Hot Sauce, also reflected on the shift in the Indian business environment.
He observed a renewed sense of confidence and energy in the sector, which contrasts with the previous mindset that success and innovation had to come from abroad.
Recalling his own experiences studying in Europe and America, Abhishek said, “There was a point of time where there was a thought process – maybe when I was a teenager, studying in Europe and then in America – that is where you need to come to be at the cutting edge. But I don’t think that is the case anymore.”
