Matua Dharma Mahamela to begin on 19th of March, PM Modi urges people to visit

Matua Dharma Mahamela’s preparations are underway at the holy soil of Thakur Nagar, West Bengal, to celebrate the 212th birth anniversary of shri shri Harichand Thakur ji. The Mela, to be organized by all India Matua Mahasangha will begin on 19th March and wrap up by the 25th of this month, as per the sources.

Union Minister of State for Ports, Shipping, and Waterways, Shantanu Thakur is Sanghadhipati of Matua Mahasangha. He is said to have been regularly taking the stalk of the preparation of the Mela and various cabinet ministers of Modi Cabinet along with dignitaries have been invited in the event.

The Matua Mahamela will showcase  India’s diverse culture and while tweeting a beautiful video, the Union Minister of State, said that it will be an experience of religious divinity, harmony in diversity, and peace to attend the Mela at Shreedham Thakur Nagar, Thakur Bari, North 24th PGNS, West Bengal.

Quoting to the Mela, PM Narendra Modi wrote tweeting, ‘‘The #MatuaMahamela2023 is an important event which showcases the vibrant culture of Matua community. I would urge more people to visit the Mela. Humanity will forever be indebted to shri shri Harichand Thakur ji for showing the path of kindness and service.’’

In 2022, the Mela was virtually graced by PM Modi, in which while addressing the gathering PM emphasized shri shri Harichand Thakur ji’s life journey which itself is an institution of learning. He also said that it becomes everyone’s duty to oppose violence in the society and fulfill the duty towards the nation.

Following this the Railway ministry has also passed an order for arrangements for special trains to Thakur Nagar and Bangaon, to ensure convenience and easy travel for the devotees visiting to attend the Matua Mahamela. The details of the trains have been uploaded in the social media accounts of central minister Shantanu Thakur.

The sources of Shantanu Thakur’s office said that it is expected to see a gathering of around 30 lahks in this week-long event which is a counted number on the basis of past records. Meanwhile, it becomes interesting to see the devotion of people who will be reaching Thakur Nagar to seek blessings of shri shri Harichand Thakur ji.
