Chaitra Navratri Coming Soon! Know The Significance, Dates, Muhurat & Timings

Chaitra Navratri is one of the most auspicious Hindu Festivals. It is the second-most popular one among all. Chaitra Navratri is also known as Vasantha Navaratri. This occasion is named on the springtime as god Vasanta. It is observed in the Chaitra lunar month from March to April as per the English calendar.

Significance of Chaitra Navratri

The festival starts with a special ceremony Ghatasthapana. Devotees offer flowers, fruits, and prasad to the divine as well as prayers to Goddess Durga and her various incarnations. The celebrations begin on the first day, or pratipada, and continue through the Navami, or ninth day, of the Shukla Paksha in the Chaitra month. As the ninth day commemorates the birth of Lord Rama, Chaitra Navratri is also known as Vasanta Navratri or Rama Navratri.

In the Indian state of Maharashtra, Chaitra Navratri celebrations begin with Gudi Padwa, whereas it is known as Ugadi in Andhra Pradesh and other southern Indian states.

When it is celebrated? On March 21 or 22?

The nine-day festival will take place this year from March 22 through March 30. The Pratipada Tithi for the Chaitra month of March begins at 10:52 pm on March 21 and ends at 8:20 pm on March 22.

The Meena Lagna for March 22 lasts from 6:23 am to 7:32 am. On March 22, the Ghat Sthapana, also called the Kalash Sthapana, will be performed.

According to the Hindi Panchang calendar,  muhurat begins from 6:23 to 7:32 in the morning. One of the important rituals during Navratri is ghatasthapana.
