NEET 2024 Result: Medical Aspirant Calls For Re-Exam Amid Alleged Marks Inflation

Parents and students raised the alarm on Wednesday after NEET-UG 2024 results announced that an astonishing 67 students scored 720 out of 720 marks.

Notably, 6 students out of 67 who scored a hundred percent marks are from the same examination Centre In Haryana, with their sequence numbers being the same.

The National Eligibility-Cum-Entrance Test (Undergraduate) NEET-UG,  formerly known as All India Pre-Medical Test ( AIPMT), is an all India Pre-medical entrance test for students who wish to pursue undergraduate medical ( MBBS), dental, (BDS) and AYUSH  ( BAMS, BUMS BHMS, etc. ) courses in government and private institutions in India and also, for those intending to pursue primary medical qualification abroad.

The National Testing Agency (NTA) conducts the exam and provides the results to the Directorate General of Health Services under the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare and state counselling authorities for seat allocation.

NEET-UG is a single entrance test for admission to MBBS, BDS etc colleges across India and It is the largest exam in India in terms of registered applicants.

Students, parents, and social groups pointed out anomalies in the NEET-UG 2024 results, suggesting a paper leak.

NEET-UG 2024: Unprecedented 2000% Surge In Students Scoring Perfect Marks Raises Concerns

  • There are 67 students who scored a hundred per cent mark in the NEET-UG means they got 720 marks out of 720.  Last year only two students scored hundred percent marks. This year 67 students scored full marks, which means a jump of 2000%. However, the Exam’s difficulty level was moderate as per experts.
  • Six of the 67 students with perfect scores are from the same Haryana exam center and have sequential roll numbers.
  • Some students score 718 and 719 marks, how is it possible when each question will get 4 marks for a correct answer and a deduction of 1 mark for an incorrect answer?
  • According to official sources, the NTA postponed the NEET result 2024 on June 4. The results were initially scheduled for June 14 but were delayed due to the announcement of the 18th General Election of Lok Sabha.

The National Testing Agency (NTA) needs to address these queries.

Over 20 lakh students appeared at various examination centers across India for the NEET exam conducted on May 5, 2024.

This year, controversies surrounded the exam after a paper leak scam surfaced in Bihar. Authorities arrested around 13 individuals, including four examinees and their family members, for their alleged involvement in the NEET-UG Exam paper leak.

National Examination Agency (NTA) Clarification

Moreover, amid the social media uproar, National Testing Agency, NTA has twice issued clarification on the matter.

However, despite NTA’s clarification, aspirants remained doubtful and sought further details, including the allocation of grace marks and the rules applied.

Several congress leaders, including Priyanka Gandhi Vadra  have demanded action against alleged irregularities in the NEET UG Exams and she called for an investigation into reported  irregularities  and expressed concern over students’ complaints.
