Till today it is heard and read that there are so many officers in Falana village and after some more selection that village is called as the village of officers like Paharipur village of Madhuban tehsil of Mau district.
Although hundreds of officers of Mau have worked and are doing in the Indian services, but in this case, Paharipur is in the first place. In the Judiciary also, several dozen people of Mau are serving even at present, that too from the District Court to the High Court.
Along with Uttar Pradesh, Mau has had a distinct identity in Indian politics as well. There are some villages of Mau which are known as MPs’ villages, while dozens of officers of these villages have also served or are serving in the Indian Administrative Service, Uttar Pradesh Administrative Service, Judiciary etc.
Surajpur of Mau district is one such gram sabha in whose soil three MPs were born.
Jai Bahadur Singh was elected as a member of the Legislative Council in 1957 from the Ballia local body. In 1962, Ghosi was elected an MP from the Lok Sabha constituency as a candidate of the Communist Party. Freedom Fighter Jai Bahadur Singh distributed his hundreds of acres of land among Dalits, Backwards. He was the head of the Pipridih train robbery case.
Vir Bahadur Singh, author of dozens of books on economics and a well-known economist of the time, was nominated by Congress as a Rajya Sabha MP in 1974. He played an important role in the privatization of banks. His papers were published on more than 150 different subjects and since the 1950s, his articles were published in the National Herald on Tuesdays.
He was also a visiting professor in universities like Cambridge, Warsaw, Paris, Belgrade etc. As an economic advisor to the United Nations, he used to analyze the economic situation of the English-speaking countries of Africa.
Rajkumar Rai was elected MLA from Nathupur (Madhuban) assembly constituency in 1980, was elected MP from Ghosi in the 1984 Lok Sabha elections as a Congress candidate, in 2012 he became the chairman of the Uttar Pradesh Seed Certification Board / Minister of State in the Samajwadi Party government. Rajkumar Rai, a famous lawyer of Azamgarh, used to fight the cases of the poor and backward free of cost and even used to pay the rent for their travel.
So in Amila village also two MPs were born.
Pandit Algu Rai Shastri was an Indian freedom fighter, politician, educationist and lawmaker. He was elected to the first Lok Sabha in 1952 as a Congress candidate from Azamgarh, now called Ghosi Lok Sabha constituency. He was a member of the Constituent Assembly of India and was the state president of the Uttar Pradesh Congress. In the Constituent Assembly, he impressed everyone with his eloquence.
Jharkhand Rai was also a resident of Amila village. He had an important contribution in the freedom struggle. He was sentenced to 21 years of imprisonment under the British rule. He wrote more than half a dozen books.
Jharkhand Rai, who was MLA and minister in 1957, 1962, 1967 from Ghosi assembly constituency, was elected as a Communist Party candidate from Ghosi Lok Sabha constituency in the fourth Lok Sabha 1968, fifth Lok Sabha 1971, seventh Lok Sabha in 1980.
