During the visit to the landslide-ravaged district of Wayanad on Saturday, Prime Minister Narendra Modi voiced great worry over the disaster's sad impact on local residents, particularly children.
After landing in Kalpetta, he made his first stop at the severely damaged Government Vocational Higher Secondary School (GVHS) in Vellarmala.
The GVHS School in Vellarmala, which had 582 kids enrolled, has reported 27 students missing following the accident.
The Prime Minister also paid a visit to a nearby hospital, where he spoke with injured people and offered his support.
Ayyapan, a Wayanad resident who visited the Prime Minister at St. Joseph's School, expressed his excitement after speaking with Modi. "I am extremely happy after PM Modi spoke to me and assured me that the administration is with us all."
Earlier in the day, PM Modi landed at Kannur airport, where he was greeted by Kerala's Governor, Chief Minister, and other key officials from the central and state governments.
