Prime Minister Narendra Modi landed in Kanyakumari on Thursday, the last day of the Lok Sabha election campaign, and will meditate at the Vivekananda Rock Memorial until June 1.

The prime minister went to the Vivekananda Rock Memorial after praying at the Bhagavathy Amman Temple in the city upon his arrival.

From Thursday evening to June 1st evening, Modi will remain in meditation at Dhyan Mandapam, the site of the renowned Hindu philosopher Swami Vivekananda's purported divine vision of "Bharat Mata."

In anticipation of Modi's arrival, security has been stepped up, and 2000 police officers will be on duty. The Indian Coast Guard and Indian Navy will also be keeping a close eye on things.

The PM prayed at the Bhagavathi Amman temple in Kanniyakumari after traveling from nearby Thiruvananthapuram earlier in the day. He is scheduled to conduct meditation at the Vivekananda Rock Memorial for almost two days, starting from May 30 and ending on June 1.

Modi is probably going to the Thiruvalluvar statue, which is near to the memorial, before he leaves on June 1. The statue and memorial were erected on small islets, which are isolated rocky formations in the shape of mounds in the ocean.

From Thursday evening to June 1st evening, Modi will be meditating at Dhyan Mandapam, the site of the purported divine vision of "Bharat Mata" that spiritual icon Vivekananda, whom Modi greatly admires, had.
