The beginning of Navratri was celebrated on Sunday, and Prime Minister Narendra Modi wished everyone a happy, prosperous, and healthy new year.

Devotees pray to Goddess Durga throughout the next nine days and fast during that time.

Sharad Navratri's tenth day is observed as Dussehra or Vijaya Dashami.
