The Consumer Protection Act was passed and adopted on December 24, 1986. Since then, every year this day has been observed to raise awareness about consumer rights in India

It provides the power to seek redressal in case of exploitation or unfair conduct, it also provides the right to fair settlement.

Right-to-consumer education

This right allows a consumer to acquire knowledge and skills to be an informed consumer and prevent exploitation.
