On January 12, 2024, NASA and the American aerospace corporation Lockheed Martin present the 'X-59 Quesst supersonic aircraft'.
NASA claims that the purpose of this journey is to gather data that may revolutionize air travel.
The goal of the mission is to demonstrate the X-59's capability to fly supersonic without creating obtrusive sonic booms.
In addition, the task include getting public opinion on the less loud "thumps" that the aircraft makes when it flies overhead.
NASA predicts that the X-59 will travel at 1.4 times the speed of sound, or 925 miles per hour.
Later this year, the aircraft is expected to make its first flight, which will be followed by a peaceful supersonic flight.
One jet engine powers the aircraft, which is 99.7 feet long and 29.5 feet broad. There will just be one pilot operating it.
NASA intends to fly the X-59 over a few US towns when flight testing is over in order to get feedback from the general people regarding the aircraft's noise.
Rather than being a prototype, the X-59 is classified as a unique experimental aircraft.
