Mystery behind the 400-year-old SHIVA temple excavated by ASI

It is thought that this shiva temple, which dates back 400 years, was uncovered in 1997.

On a plot of vacant ground diagonally across from the Kadu Malleshwara temple, development got underway in 1997.

In 1997, while excavating a mound for construction purposes, labourers found the temple's spire.

As they excavated further, they discovered a huge temple situated on the mound.

After concluding the excavation, the ASI, discovered a central pool of water that was impeccably preserved and encircled by granite steps and pillared mantapas.

The temple is home to a Shivalinga that is constantly submerged in water that drips from a stone Nandi statue's mouth.

Although some sources place the temple's age at almost 7000 years old, the temple is at least 400 years old.

When the Archaeological Survey of India cleaned Nandi's mouth, they discovered that a tiny stream of water had begun to flow regularly.

It is unclear where the constant flow of water coming from the Nandi's mouth comes from.
