Isro to wake  up Pragyaan  rover

After a 15- day hibernation  period ISRO scientists are  working to wake up the  Pragyaan rover

This will increase the likelihood  of an extension beyond  the already totally successful completion of the mission

The lander and rover are  stationed at Shivshakti Point, where the ISRO team is hopeful that the sun will rise. ISRO Chairman S. Somanath said  the machinery will restart  as soon as the Sun rises

The technology aboard Vikram and Pragyan was gradually put to sleep  before the lunar  twilight

Solar panels were positioned  so that they would get light at dawn, and the batteries of the modules that are powered by sunlight were left charged

The main obstacle for  "Pragyan and Vikram" would  be to resume their adventures after surviving the icy -200 degrees Celsius

The modules can restart  and continue their mission  to communicate information  from the moon for the  following fourteen days if the onboard instruments  survive the cold  temperature on the moon

If all goes according to plan , the rover will begin moving  after receiving the commands. Later, the lander module  would undergo the  similar process.

This will help in boosting the chances of extension over and above what has already been an entirely successfully complete mission
