India's Surrogacy Rules Changed: Here's Everything You Need To Know

PM Modi's government modified rules governing the process of a person carrying someone else's Baby.

 The Centre has amended the Surrogacy (Regulation) Rules, 2022, allowing married couples to use donor gametes if one partner suffers from a medical condition.

District Medical Board certification is required to confirm the medical condition of either the husband or wife, justifying the need for donor gametes.

Couples cannot opt for surrogacy if both partners have medical issues preventing the use of their gametes.

Single women (widows or divorcees) undergoing surrogacy must use self-eggs and donor sperm, according to the notification.

 Single women must utilize their eggs for the surrogacy process.
