On the fifteenth day of Israel and Hamas' conflict, convoys carrying humanitarian supplies started arriving in the Gaza Strip from Egypt through the Rafah border crossing.
Since the Israeli bombardment started, at least 4,385 people have died in Gaza, according to the health ministry operated by Hamas on Saturday.
US President Joe Biden stated on Friday that the goal of the October 7 Hamas strike on Israel was to sabotage any possible normalisation of relations between Israel and Saudi Arabia.
On Friday, Israel verified that two Americans had been freed by Hamas, who had taken over 200 captives earlier this month. Nothing specific about their state was disclosed.
In the October 7 incident, gunmen affiliated with the Palestinian organisation Hamas killed around 1,400 people and kidnapped at least 210 others, according to the most recent Israeli estimates.
A "security alert" for US citizens has been released by the US Embassy in Jerusalem in advance of the Rafah border crossing's opening from Gaza to Egypt.
It also asked people to consider their own protection and safety before approaching or crossing the border.
A "potentially chaotic and disorderly environment" has been warned of by the US Embassy, and its people are asked to reply to the message with their current location.
Gaza has not received any supplies of food, water, fuel, or medical supplies for almost two weeks.
