Aditya L1, the Indian Space Research Organization's (ISRO) first solar mission, successfully entered Halo orbit at the L1 point on January 6, 2024.
So here are 6 things to know about Aditya L1 Mission
ISRO's first space mission, Aditya L1, is designed to investigate the Sun. It was launched from Sriharikota on September 2, 2023, using the spacecraft PSLV-C57.
Aditya L1 will be put in a halo orbit around the Sun-Earth system's Lagrange point (L1) (1.5 million km from Earth). On January 6, the last move to the L1 point will take place.
The Lagrange Point (L1) is the point at which the Earth's and Sun's gravitational forces balance. This singular point provides a solid vantage point for observation.
A spacecraft orbiting the L1 point will examine solar activity and its real-time impact on space weather.
Four payloads will investigate the sun directly, while the remaining three will conduct in-situ particle and field research near the L1 point.
The Aditya L1 mission will investigate chromospheric and coronal dynamics, in-situ particles, and the Sun's plasma environment.
