5 Countries Without Airports

By- Kavya Bhatt

It's hard to believe that only a few countries worldwide do not have airports.

These countries are known for their prosperous tourism industry and attract people from all over the world.

Small size, limited space, and proximity to other major cities are the main reasons for needing an airport.

1. Vatican City, the world's smallest country with a population of around 840 people, does not have an airport of its own because of its proximity to Rome.

2. Monaco, a city-state situated in the French Riviera is the second-smallest country in the world. The nearest airport is Nice Cote d' Azur Airpor in France.

 3. San Marino, the 5th smallest country in the world, has an estimated population of over 30,000. The closest airport is the Federico Fellini International Airport in Italy. Interestingly, it is one of the richest countries with one of the highest GDPs per capita.

4. Located in the Pyrenees mountains between France and Spain, Andorra doesn't have its own airport. The nearest airports are located in France(Toulouse) and Spain(Barcelona).

5. Liechtenstein, a landlocked country between Switzerland and Austria, also doesn't have its own commercial airport.
