Brij Bhushan Sharan Singh, the president of the Wrestling Federation of India (WFI), has been charged with crimes including stalking and sexual harassment of female wrestlers. In order to demand the dissolution of WFI, several wrestlers organized a dharna at Jantar Mantar in New Delhi.

Rahul Gandhi, the Congress leader, lost his right to serve in the Lok Sabha after a Surat court found him guilty of criminal defamation in 2019 for remarks he made disparaging the Modi surname. About four months later, Rahul was allowed to rejoin.

Curfew was enforced in Manipur on May 3 following violent clashes between tribal people and Meitei community members, who make up the majority. Many people lost their homes and many more died.

On April 13, 2023, in Prayagraj, UP STF shot and killed Atiq Ahmed, a former gangster who had been jailed and turned politician, along with his son Asad and close aide Ghulam. They were sought in the murder case of Umesh Pal.

On December 8, 2023, TMC chief Mahua Moitra was ejected from the Lok Sabha as a result of a report by the Ethics Committee regarding the allegations of "cash for query" made against her.

Five states hold assemblies, including Chattisgarh and MP. Telangana, Mizoram, and Rajasthan took from November 7 to 30. Telangana was ruled by the Congress, Mizoram was ruled by the Zoram People's Movement, and the other three states were taken over by the BJP.
