Smartphone users will soon be able to use two WhatsApp accounts on one device
CEO of WhatsApp parent company Meta Mark Zuckerberg made the same announcement in a Facebook post.
"We're providing the capability to log into two WhatsApp accounts simultaneously today. It's convenient for switching between accounts, such your personal and professional ones," said the post
Users won't have to worry about an extra device or keep logging out of their accounts to transfer between accounts thanks to this feature
The WhatsApp account switching functionality promises to simplify the management of users' communications across various accounts
A user will be able to smoothly switch between different WhatsApp accounts on a single device, for instance, if they have separate accounts for business and messaging friends and family
The business has stated that users would still require a different phone number and SIM card (or a phone that accepts multi-SIM or eSIM) if they wish to create a second account. So, in order to use the feature, a dual SIM phone is required
For users to obtain the one-time passcode, a second smartphone or a different SIM card is required
To let customers access to their second account on a different device, WhatsApp distributes these codes by SMS
