Story of Delhi's Haunted Malcha Mahal, Now Open for Heritage Walks

The Delhi tourism department launches "haunted walks," which begin at Chanakyapuri's Malcha Mahalm, a hunting lodge from the Tuglaq era that is 1.5 kilometers from the main road.

Centuries after being abandoned, Malcha Mahal came to light as the residence of a family claiming ancestry from the Nawab of Awadh, the last of whom, Prince Ali Raza, died in 2017.

Mysterious History 

Raza was of a different royal lineage and lived in poverty. His enigmatic 2017 passing raised awareness of the Mahal and shook local perceptions of supernatural occurrences.

The ruins were thought to be home to the ghost of Begum Wilayat Mahal, who committed suicide.

2019 saw INTACH submit a restoration proposal for Malchal Mahal to the Delhi government, emphasizing the site's historical and cultural significance.
