(ISRO) on Friday launched its ambitious third lunar mission, Chandrayaan-3, from Sriharikota in Andhra Pradesh, and announced a “successful” separation of satellite into the orbit
The robotic vehicle is named as ‘Pragyan’, which translates to 'wisdom' in Sanskrit
The lander and rover’s names have been taken from the last mission Chandrayaan-2
ISRO has set 4 km x 2.4 km 69.367621 S, 32.348126 E on the lunar surface as potential landing site for the Chandrayaan-3
It cruised in an orbit 288 kilometres nearest to Earth and 3,69,328 kilometres at its farthest point
Chandrayaan-3 spacecraft is set to complete 5-6 orbits around the moon, gradually transitioning to a circular 100-kilometre orbit
India's Chandrayaan-3 spacecraft was recently spotted by private astronomers using a telescope
India aims to be the 4th nation to ever achieve a soft landing on the moon
Lunar Orbit Insertion (LOI) manoeuvre was completed successfully today (August 05, 2023). With this, Chandrayaan 3 has been successfully inserted into a Lunar orbit
The next Lunar bound orbit manoeuvre is scheduled tomorrow (August 06, 2023), around 23:00 hrs IST
The health of the spacecraft is being continuously monitored from the Mission Operations Complex (MOX) at ISRO Telemetry, Tracking and Command Network (ISTRAC) in Bengaluru. All the systems of Chandrayaan-3 are healthy
