NASA Administrator to Travel to India, UAE; Discuss Space Cooperation

Beginning on Monday, Nov. 27, NASA Administrator Bill Nelson will visit India and the United Arab Emirates (UAE) for a series of discussions with important government figures

In order to strengthen bilateral cooperation in a variety of innovation and research-related fields, particularly in human exploration and Earth science, Nelson will also meet with space officials from both nations

The trip to India satisfies a pledge made as part of President Joe Biden's US-India initiative on Critical and Emerging Technology

Nelson is scheduled to visit multiple sites in India, including the NISAR spacecraft facilities near Bengaluru

NISAR is a ground-breaking Earth-observing instrument, the first in the Earth System Observatory, that will measure Earth's changing ecosystems. It is the first satellite mission between NASA and ISRO

Nelson will take part in the 2023 United Nations Climate Change Conference while in the United Arab Emirates, emphasizing NASA's position as a worldwide leader in supplying decision-makers with vital Earth-science data.

Additionally, Nelson will be available to meet with students in each nation to talk about STEM (science, technology, engineering, and mathematics) education
