Subrata Roy, died at Kokilaben hospital in Mumbai after battling with blood cancer 

Subrata Roy, was born in Araria, Bihar in 1948

Subrata Roy, started his Sahara India Pariwar journey in 1976 with ₹2000

Roy's business empire spanned over various sectors like finance, real estate, media and entertainment

Starting with just ₹2000, Sahara India Pariwar became the 2nd largest after the Indian government in terms of employment

Sahara India Pariwar employed around 1.2 million people and claimed to have 9 crore investors

With large-scale projects like Aamby Valley City, Plaza Hotel in New York, Roy's Sahara group rose to national prominence

The group also achieved great success in the media sector with projects like the Hindi-language newspaper Rashtriya Sahara and Sahara TV, which was eventually renamed Sahara One
