Model Code of Conduct is to ensure: No political party misuses its power to take advantage in elections

No Party is campaigning on basis of cast or communal defamation

The candidate makes no promise of any kind or any financial grant

There is no undue influence, compulsion or bribing of the voters by any party

What is not allowed in Model Code of Conduct Election officials are not allowed to meet leaders at their personal residences

Ban on running Ads for the ruling party using government money to promote the work done by them

MLAs, MPs etc cannot release new funds for local area development

No new work can be announced

All parties and candidates shall refrain from serving or distributing liquor on polling day.
