Eight states in India have the lowest rates of literacy.

The East Indian state ranks lowest in India on literacy ranking, with the average literacy rate, hovering near 61.80%.

Bihar

The literacy rate in the Northeast Indian state of Arunachal Pradesh is 65.38%. However, 72.55% of males in the state are literate.

Arunachal Pradesh

only 66.11% of people in Rajasthan states are illiterate, with a mere 52.12% of women falling in the literate category.

Rajasthan 

 In this mineral-rich state of India the literacy rate hovers near 66.41%. The literacy rate in the state Among males is 76.84% and 52.42% in females.

 Jharkhand

The literacy rate in the Southern  Indian state of Andhra Pradesh is 67.02%. However, 74.88% of males in the state are literate.

Andhra Pradesh

The north Indian state has a literacy rate of 67.16%. The male literacy rate in the state is 76.75% while it is 56.43% among females.

 Jammu and Kashmir

The literacy rate in India’s most populous state is 67.68%. 72.28% of males here are literate but only 57.18% of females have had the privilege.

Uttar Pradesh

The central Indian state has a literacy rate of 69.32%. The male literacy rate in the state is 78.73% and the female rate is 59.24%.
