Complete Information For Diwali This Year; Guide For The 5 Day Festival

Diwali is a celebration of light, prosperity and cultural significance in India.  It is a 5 day long festival and not just about the day of Diwali.

Day 1:  Dhanteras or Dhan Trayodashi  on November 10

People worship Lord Kubera and Goddess Lakshmi and buy new things on this day.  Drik Panchang has announced that the Dhanteras puja muhurat on November 10 would commence at 5:47 PM and conclude at 7:43 PM. 

Day 2:  Choti Diwali also known as Narak Chaturdashi  on November 11

People celebrate Choti Diwali, also known as Naraka Chaturdashi on second day.  The Abhyang Snan Muhurat is scheduled to begin on November 11 at 05:28 AM and conclude on November 12 at 06:41 AM.  Deepdan is done at Pradosh Kaal, which begins at 05:29 PM and finishes at 08:07 PM.

Day 3:  Diwali  on November 12

The main Diwali celebration is celebrated with great fervor on the third day.  According to Drik Panchang, Lakshmi Puja is customarily performed in the evening during the auspicious Pradosh Kaal, which  runs from 05:46 PM to 08:22 PM.

Day 4:  Govardhan Puja  on November 13

Indians observe Govardhan Puja, a day devoted to worshiping Lord Krishna, the day after Diwali. Drik Panchang states that the Govardhan Puja muhurat starts at 06:46 AM and ends at 08:58 AM.

Day 5:  Bhai Dooj  November 14

The final day is celebrated as Bhai Dooj. According to Drik Panchang, the sacred Bhai Dooj Aparahna Time is starting at 01:10 PM on Tuesday, November 14 and ending at 03:19 PM. Furthermore, the Dwitiya Tithi is scheduled to begin at 02:36 PM on November 14 and conclude at 01:47 PM on November 15.
