One of the five states holding assembly elections prior to the 2024 presidential election is Mizoram. The results of the Mizoram Assembly elections will be made public on December 3.
Regional parties including the Mizo National Front (MNF), Zoram People's Movement (ZPM), Congress, and Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) have been engaged in a fierce battle in the northeastern state.
These are the top five candidates running in the 2023 Mizoram Assembly elections.
Lalduhoma Zoram People's Movement (ZPM)
Lalduhoma, the founder of ZPM and a former IPS officer, is running for office in the Serchhip constituency against R Vanlaltluanga of the Congress and J Malsawmzual Vanchhawng, a rookie candidate for the MNF.
Lalsawta Congress
Lalduhoma, the founder of ZPM and a former IPS officer, is running for office in the Serchhip constituency against R Vanlaltluanga of the Congress and J Malsawmzual Vanchhawng, a rookie candidate for the MNF.
Tawnluia Mizo National Front(MNF)
Tawnluia, the deputy chief minister of Mizoram and vice president of the MNF, is running against W Chhuanawma of the ZPM in the Tuichang constituency.
Vanlalhmuaka Bharatiya janata party (BJP)
Vanlalhmuaka, the president of the BJP state unit, is running from the Dampa constituency against Lalrintluanga Sailo of the MNF, Lalhmingthanga Sailo of the Congress, and Vanlalsailova of the ZPM.
Zoramthanga Mizo National Front(MNF)
The incumbent chief minister of Mizoram and leader of the MNF party, Zoramthanga, is running for the Aizawl East-I seat in the Congress, against Lalsanglura Ralte, and vice president of ZPM, Lalthansanga.
