In a landmark and symbolic move, the Prime Minister’s Office (PMO) will now officially be known as Seva Teerth, a sacred place of service reflecting the citizen-first philosophy championed by Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
The renaming underscores the spirit of seva. Every decision within India’s highest office is now guided by the welfare of 1.4 billion citizens.
The Central Vista redevelopment project includes Seva Teerth, which previously bore the name Executive Enclave.
It will house the Prime Minister’s Office, the Cabinet Secretariat, and the National Security Council Secretariat. The complex will also include India House, an esteemed venue for hosting world leaders.
The complex embodies a commitment to duty, devotion, and transparent governance, strengthening the bond between the government and the people.
This transformation is part of a broader wave of change sweeping across India. Former Raj Bhavans have become Lok Bhavans, truly reflecting public ownership.
Governance is shifting from mere authority to seva, inspiring a cultural and moral awakening in the nation.
Race Course Road became Lok Kalyan Marg in 2016, and Rajpath evolved into Kartavya Path. Every name now conveys that power is a sacred responsibility, not a privilege.
Similarly, the towering Central Secretariat has been renamed Kartavya Bhavan. This change pays tribute to the principle that public service is the highest calling.
These symbolic changes reinforce India’s democratic ethos, promoting responsibility, transparency, and citizen-first governance.
The recent renaming of PMO to Seva Teerth further strengthens this vision, transforming the workplace into a pilgrimage site of service.
Across India, government residences in Dehradun, Nainital, Thiruvananthapuram, Agartala, and Kolkata have embraced the Lok Bhavan identity. This change reflects unity and shared democratic values.
This wave of renewal signifies a decisive move to shed colonial legacies and infuse governance with Indian values of seva, kartavya, and lok-shakti.
Under PM Modi’s leadership, every corner of governance now communicates a single truth: government exists to serve the people.
Seva Teerth, Lok Kalyan Marg, Kartavya Path, and Kartavya Bhavan stand as enduring reminders of India’s democratic journey. They prioritise service, accountability, and the nation’s welfare above all.
