The Central government on Wednesday approved a ₹417 crore Electronics Manufacturing Cluster (EMC 2.0) in Gautam Buddha Nagar, Uttar Pradesh. The project aims to boost local manufacturing and innovation.
Union Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw and Minister of State Jitin Prasada reviewed the plan. Officials were instructed to coordinate closely with the state government for swift execution.
200-acre cluster to attract ₹2,500 crore investment
The Yamuna Expressway Industrial Development Authority (YEIDA) will develop the cluster over 200 acres, aiming to attract ₹2,500 crore in investment.
Vaishnaw said the project would generate 15,000 jobs and create world-class infrastructure. He added that it aligns with Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s vision of making India a global manufacturing hub.
The cluster will support manufacturing in key sectors such as consumer electronics, automotive electronics, computer hardware, medical devices, and communication equipment.
Infrastructure for Startups and MSMEs
Startups and MSMEs will benefit from plug-and-play infrastructure. Facilities include standard factory sheds, electricity, water supply, sewage treatment, hostels, skill centres, and health services.
The location offers excellent connectivity via road, rail, and air. It lies along the Yamuna Expressway, Eastern Peripheral Expressway, and the upcoming Palwal–Khurja Expressway. The site is also near Jewar International Airport and key railway stations.
The cluster is surrounded by strategic industrial zones like the Medical Device Park, MSME & Apparel Park, and the Aviation Hub.
So far, projects under the EMC scheme have drawn ₹30,000 crore in investment. These have brought in 520 companies and created over 86,000 jobs.
