ISRO
has announced that its
first solar mission
Aditya-L1
It will be
launched on September 2 at 11:50 am
from
Sriharikota Space Centre
Aditya-L1 spacecraft will be launched using
PSLV-C57 rocket
It will observe the solar corona from remote location at Sun-Earth
Lagrange Point L1
Lagrange point L1
is about
1.5 million kilometres
from Earth
Lagrange Points
are points in space where the
gravitational forces of two large bodies balance out
That can be used by a spacecraft to
reduce fuel consumption
It has the
major advantage
of
continuously viewing the Sun
without any occultation/eclipse
Aditya-L1 mission is
designed to study the Sun's upper atmosphere
Aimed at studying
physics of partially ionized plasma
in solar atmosphere
