The name Shailputri means 'daughter of the mountain'. She is traditionally identified as the daughter of King Himavan.

Meaning Of Shailputri

According to Hindu tradition, Shailputri is regarded as the rebirth of Sati, the daughter of Daksha Prajapati.

She is traditionally depicted riding a bull and carrying a trident in one hand and a lotus in the other.

Her bull, known as Nandi, represents strength, stability and determination in traditional interpretations.
