Abandoned Cities Frozen In Time
BY: PRAGATI UPADHYAY
Once-thriving towns now stand deserted, holding memories of lives once lived.
Silent Cities
Evacuated in 1986 after the Chernobyl disaster. The ferris wheel still stands unused.
Pripyat, Ukraine
A coal mining hub until 1974. Now a ghostly “Battleship Island” in the sea.
Hashima Island, Japan
Diamond rush town abandoned in the 1950s. Sand now fills its houses.
Kolmanskop, Namibia
Destroyed in WWII (1944). Preserved as a war memorial village.
Oradour-sur-Glane, France
An underground fire since 1962 forced residents out. Streets remain empty.
Centralia, USA
These places are frozen reminders of nature, war, and history reclaiming space.
Time Stands Still
