Lok Sabha Polls 2024: what makes it the world's biggest election?

India the world's largest democracy is set to hold its general elections, with around 970 million registered voters heading to cast votes in an election spread over 44 days, the second longest in the country's history.

Here are some numbers that show just how big the Lok Sabha election is:

The voting for the 18th Lok Sabha elections will be held in seven phases and the counting will take place on June 4

 The election will start on April 19 and will continue till June 1.

This Lok Sabha election will be the second longest election in Indian history. The first one went on for 4 months in 1951-52.

15 Million polling staff and security personnel will be deployed for the Lok Sabha election, more than 5.5 million EVMs to handle 1.5 million polling stations.
