Even though the Taj Mahal is well known for its immaculate white marble, its hue varies throughout the day. It looks pinkish at dawn and turns a brilliant white in the midday sun. It becomes golden in the setting light, a captivating sight.
According to legend, Emperor Shah Jahan intended to construct a black marble mausoleum for himself on the other side of the Yamuna River, mirroring the Taj Mahal, which he had ordered in honor of his late wife Mumtaz Mahal. Nevertheless, this building was never finished, and its very existence is still up for debate.
Agra has many other undiscovered attractions in addition to the Taj Mahal, which is without a doubt the city's most well-known feature. These include the magnificent fortified city of Fatehpur Sikri, constructed by Emperor Akbar, and the Agra Fort, a UNESCO World Heritage Site with a rich history dating back to the Mughal era.
