First Lady Kim Keon-hee of South Korea is a contentious figure. Kim is an entrepreneur by trade, and even before she was named first lady, she was involved in several scandals.

Kim has been implicated in cases of stock market manipulation, tax evasion, and even lying on her resume to get employment. Kim's scholarly writings from her college days were scrutinized for possible plagiarism.

The People Power Party (PPP), which is in power, is criticizing the First Lady for taking a pastor's Dior purse in 2022. The purse had a value of $2,240, or 3 million won. PPP leaders insisted that Kim apologize after drawing comparisons between her lifestyle and that of Marie Antoinette.

Before Kim Keon-hee was even appointed the first lady of South Korea, she was involved in several scandals.

A portion of the disputes stems from Kim's college years when her scholarly works were scrutinized for possible instances of plagiarism. She's been mentioned in cases involving stock market manipulation and tax evasion.
