Indian Scientists Develop Covid Vaccine To Fight Against Current And Future Variants

A promising vaccine candidate to revolutionise fight against COVID is designed by scientists at the Indian Institute of Science.

They have engineered a heat-tolerant vaccine that is effective against all current strains of SARS-CoV-2.

Not just this, it can also combat future variants.

The vaccine canditate is known a RS2.

It combines of two main components of virus's spike protein, ie S2 subunit and Receptor Binding Domain (RBD).

S2 subunit is less prone to mutations compared to the S1 subunit.

RBD is recognized for its ability to elicit a robust immune response.

RS2 can be manufactured in large quantities, which is neede for mass vaccination efforts.
