Fiat 1100 made its international debut at the 1953 Geneva Motor Show.
It was powered by a 1089 cc engine that produced 36bhp.
It arrived in India in 1954; the first batch was imported from Italy.
They were assembled at a factory in Kurla, Mumbai.
The Elegant, as well as 'Dukkar' Fiats, were the first models.
Premier Automobiles Limited licensed, manufactured it under its own name in 1973.
The model was renamed Premier President and then Premier Padmini.
Premier Padmini was named in honour of Indian queen Padmini.
The 1100 was popular among taxi drivers due to its small size and dependable engines.
Premier Padmini's have played key roles in movies like Taxi No. 9211 and Khaali-Peeli.
