First female Indian Army medical officer stationed at Siachen, the highest battlefield on earth

 Captain Geetika Koul of the Snow Leopard Brigade has made history.

The induction training covers a wide range of topics, including high-altitude acclimatisation, survival skills, and specialised medical procedures

The induction is essential for functioning in challenging conditions.

 It is regarded as a challenging test of physical and mental endurance.

This is  a major advancement for gender inclusion in the Indian Army.

In October, Bharat Sanchar Nigam Limited (BSNL) commissioned a new base transceiver station (BTS) in Siachen glacier 

To extend mobile communication for the soldiers deployed at more than 15,500 feet.

Troops will now get connected to their families from their high altitude posts, while performing duties in the coldest and highest battlefield.
